Change is about putting in the right kind of effort

Most of my clients have impressive careers. They got the difficult degrees and leadership roles. They got picked to work abroad & to lead strategic projects.

They’re no strangers to putting in additional effort.

So when I tell them coaching will be intense, they imagine long working hours.

But changing your mindset doesn’t take time. It doesn’t require that kind of effort.

It requires discomfort.

A bit like… Training triceps.

Training triceps requires a very precise movement.

The 1st repetition is ok.

The 3rd feels uncomfortable.

By the 5th, it feels ok again. That’s because your body shifted and lifts the weights by using your biceps, shoulders… everything else but the triceps 😉

The body wants to use its big muscles. Those are used to being pushed hard.

But using the triceps.... it’s not really harder. It’s just VERY uncomfortable.

The mind works the same. It wants to use usual thoughts to filter the world: “I’m not good enough” or “I don’t have what it takes.”

When I ask your mind to put on a new lens, “I’m getting better” or “I’m resourceful”: The mind rebels and tries to revert to the old thought.

The only real question is: will you let it wiggle out of training?

No bad horses, only untrained riders 🐴
