The worst that can happen…

Third post today dedicated to the “positive mavericks” who unsolicitedly steer their company towards sustainable development, inclusiveness etc.

This requires courage, which is based on three pillars:

  • A clear why;
  • Staying on your own team no matter what;
  • Being ok with any feeling that pops up. Yup. No need to be brave if you’re not feeling afraid!

When we are as privileged as we are (we’re on LinkedIn. Seriously!), the worst thing that we face in most situations is to feel an unpleasant feeling.

It’s very, very rare that you will end up in the cardboard-box-under-a-bridge of your disaster scenario. The real worst for us is to feel ashamed, humiliated, depressed, rejected, terrified…

Next time you feel a feeling you don’t like, notice how it feels in your body. The sensations are much less uncomfortable than your fear of them. Learn how to accept and carry those sensations around; eventually they’ll move on – that’s the nature of feelings.

When feelings are no longer a big deal to manage physically, the REAL worst-case scenario is to miss out on your best case scenario: the one where you actually do good for the world by pursuing your just (and scary!) cause.

No bad horses, only untrained riders 🐴
