Women’s Day today, so I’ll talk about inclusiveness. When people who don’t look like those in power also are listened to. When their experience is taken into account.
To not matter is one of the most violent things there is.
If your company is not actively inclusive, it will be exclusive – simply because those who have it all to lose will censor themselves. They won’t be able to bring their best energy to the table.
The same happens inside of you.
If you’re not actively welcoming the parts of you who have different stakes than the ones you acknowledge, you’re shutting them out: the part of you that wants to relax when you require productivity; the part that’s scared, when you value boldness; the part that feels confused when you demand clarity.
When those parts don’t have a say, their discomfort eats up your energy. You can press on the gas pedal all you want, the hand brake stays firmly on.
Are you actively seeking out others’ experiences of the world? Do you suspend judgment? Can you listen without expected result besides creating connection?
Do this for others, and you’ll be better at doing it for yourself. And then, whether it’s your company or yourself: enjoy the speed as the brakes come off!
No bad horses, only untrained riders 🐴
I can't wait to hear what you want to share!
